After us,
may all rivers overflow and all earthquakes come to ground. May the earth shudder hard may all buildings shake and all bridges tremble. After us, may all sirens sound and cry and all cannons fire away spreading chaos north and south. May all statues lose their limbs and all temples turn to ruins with three pillars not more [not even ceilings] because after us only a rivers roar can muffle the opaque sound of a stubborn systole that insists and keeps on beating slowly, mournfully and heavily in your name and after us. - w.d.s. Critiques
I love the beginning, the images are so clear...so real... so raw... with each frame however, the clarity dissolves, the emotion begins to take over in desperation.. until at last...the world... is blurry... incoherant... like static on a radio... or blank pages of a diary when you just have lost the words..
I love this.. the colors the starkness... the words you used...
I felt like crying reading the words... seeing the images.. because we have all been there at the last moments .. to last gasp... the death rattle I guess some would call it.
Photography does not usually make me shiver...but yours does.
I cannot see a thing in this that needs to be changed.
The more I look, the more stories these pictures tell. A break-up and a heart-break, a desperate need for support, loss, a funeral, walking out and not looking back, footprints, guilt...the focus always so carefully placed to gently show you where to look first, what words to give to each goodbye.
I know this is an unconventional critique, barely a critique at all. I have no suggestions or criticisms. This is so personal and so meaningful. And that makes it truly perfect in my eyes.
